Scott’s session at this year’s Seminario Internacional de SeguridadMinera in Lima, Peru —hosted by the Instituto de SeguridadMinera (ISEM) —explored a critical dimension of workplace safety: the connection between physical safety and psychological safety.
His session, “Bridging the Gap: Physical and Psychological Safety in the Workplace,”emphasized that safety goes beyond protocols and personal protective equipment.
Even in industries where physical safety is well-established, psychological safety is often overlooked.
To help bridge the gap, Scott introduced the inQUEST Psychological Safety™ model and explored with participants how it can strengthen safety culture through:
- Safety to Be Yourself: You can be yourself at work.
- Safety to Learn & Grow: Learning involves making mistakes and taking risks.
- Safety to Challenge: You can share feedback and express different ideas.
- Safety in Systems: Systems and processes exist to support people and address problem
A sincere thank you to our partners at the National Safety Council (NSC) —your connection helped make this impactful experiencepossible.
Our engagement with ISEM, and the opportunity to contribute to their important work, began through this introduction.
Congratulations to ISEM, Scott, and the global participants who came together for this critical conversation on safety —advancing the goal of making workplaces safer and work better for everyone.Images courtesy of ISEM.
